How to Transport a Wet Painting

In this video I talk about how to transport a wet painting so that if you paint it in a class or a park, you can bring it home safely while it’s still wet!

I used to carry wet paintings all around New York City and was constantly afraid they’d get damaged or that I would get wet paint on some fancy New Yorker’s clothes! So I developed this simple trick to package a wet painting to protect it as I bring it home.

RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THIS VLOG:

Wet Panel Carriers

Here are 5 simple steps to package a wet painting for safe transport:

  1. Make cardboard wedge shapes.
  2. Tape them to the corners of your canvas.
  3. Cut foam core to the same size as your canvas.
  4. Tape the foam core vertically and horizontally in place.
  5. Put it all in a bag and be at peace as you carry your wet painting home!

This has made it so easy and streamlined for me to create work wherever I want and then safely and calmly bring it home after!

If the paint at the corners is wet it may get smudged a bit by the wedges on the corners, so I just make sure to unpackage the painting when I get home and touch up the corners while it’s still wet.

There are also wet painting carriers for panels like the ones listed about under resources!
